Warrior PvP guide

JÎgglybuff's warrior guide

So you've decided you want to become an unstoppable force of destruction, a god in pvp.

Well you will need ALOT of practice my friend because warriors are not easy to become pro at.

I've been playing a warrior for three years so i will consider my self a reasonable warrior and i didn't become a good warrior as i am today without practice, you need not to only know your enemy but study his style of play watch his every move so in the future you can predict what that player is going to do next.

Warriors have decent damage but as for patch 4.0.6 our mobility got nerfed making it harder to fight kiters like, mages, resto shamans, resto druids, hunters etc. but it is possible for a good warrior to beat a mage if the warrior knows how mages play and what they are going to do next.

Use bladestorm if you don't have any other ability to get out of movement mobilizing effects

Use intimidating shout to fear pets, like shaman's spirit wolves, mage reflections, hunters pets, locks pets etc.

Disarm someone if he popped his offensive cooldowns making them waste those cooldowns and giving you a time to put out some damage.

it's these simple things that can save your life

Firstly there are 3 specs that you get to choose from, protection, fury and arms. In this guide i will only cover the most used and most viable spec for damage based warrior (in my opinion) and that is arms. Fury is a good spec to play and many of the warriors have been respeccing as of patch 4.0.6. But most good warriors like Swifty, Bajheera (sorry if i spelt that wrong) have still been arms because fury doesn't have the abilities that arms warrior have.

If you want to become a good warrior you need to know your opponent and to know your opponent you need to DUEL. Dueling is hugely underestimated but when you spend a lot dueling a certain class you will know that class's every move which will help you in arena, in battlegrounds etc.

Duel your opponents, if you lose don't say to yourself that your a bad player but reflect, see what went wrong in your duel, see your mistakes and narrow them in the next duel. If you don't know how you lost ask your opponent, if you don't ask you wont learn.

Follow these small tips and you will become a better player.

Arms:

Summary: Arms combines a nice amount of survivability, damage and mobility, while fury provides more than that arms is the way to go if you have 1 or more teammate.

35/6/0

Glyphs:

Abilities to use:

Charge:

Use this ability to get to far enemies and to interrupt enemy casts as well as to stun them.

Rend:

You must keep this ability up at all times on enemies and this is your opener, rend is used to trigger an attack called overpower which is one of your main attacks.

Overpower:
Use this ability when you can use it and it can be triggered by rend and overpower is one of your main damage abilities

Heroic strike:
This ability is also one of your main damage abilities, use this damage ability when you can (it has a 3 second cooldown) and use it considering how much rage you have.

Mortal strike

Mortal strike is another primal damage ability which is on a 4.5 second cooldown and is your most damage ability, use it whenever it is not on cooldown.

Throw down:

This ability stuns the target for 5 seconds, use it when you want to keep the player down so he cant do damage, heal etc. or use it to keep an enemy down while you burst damage on him.

Colossus smash:

This ability is the most ability that you want to use, try to keep colossus smash on your target at all times. Colossus Smash damages the target for 150% weapon damage and allows you to bypass the enemies armor meaning the enemy would have 0 armor and 0 resilience.

Heroic leap:
This ability lets you leap through the air towards a targeted location, use this if you want to get closer to an enemy player or if you want to run away from an enemy. this ability has a 1 minute cooldown

Berserker rage:

Use this ability to break enemy fear or sap and incapacitate effects and become immune to them for 10 seconds and this ability has a 30 second cooldown

Deadly Calm

Use this ability if you don't have enough rage to do damage and use this if your bursting an enemy. This ability has a 2 minute cooldown

Shield block:

This ability increases your chance to block by 25% and is useful versus melee opponents and hunters, use this if you want to block incoming attacks and use this for emergencies. and lasts for 10 seconds and has a 1 minute cooldown

Shield Wall:

This ability is a defensive cooldown which reduces all damage taken by opponents by 40%, use this if you are in trouble and if you are getting nuked. this ability has a 5 minute cooldown and lasts for 12 seconds.

Disarm:

This ability disarms the main hand weapon of the opponent and ranged weapons for 10 seconds use this ability to disarm melee opponents and hunters for them to stop nuking you or your teammates.

Enraged Regeneration
Use this ability to heal yourself for 36% of your health over 10 seconds and this ability has a 3 minute cooldown and requires to be enraged.

The rotation of an arms warrior is really easy and can vary as the warrior doesn't actually have a rotation and just puts out damage when his offensive abilities are not on cooldown and it depends on the class that you are facing

But here is how it goes.

1. Rend the target
2. try to get colossus smash on the target if he is in a vulnerable position
3. mortal strike
4. overpower
5. heroic strike

Arena: in this part of the guide i will cover 2v2 arenas and 3v3 arenas and good partner choice.

2v2: warriors are known to have a healer for a partner in arena although there are some good double dps combinations that can work with warrior, for example deathknight warrior is a good 2v2 combination. but if you want to achieve high ratings in 2v2 you would have to go with a healer, the best healer with a warrior in patch 4.0.6 is a resto shaman but other healers like holy paladins and resto druids work very well in 2v2.

3v3: most warriors like to play 3v3 because they would have the fun of 2v2 double dps and a healer, for 3v3 you wold want a warrior/hunter/healer or warrior/deathknight/healer etc. but these two are the best combos i've seen.

That's the end of this guide and i hope you enjoyed, i hope in the future i would add more guides like this and improve on this one two.

Make sure you have fun in world of warcraft and follow my tips on how to play a warrior in pvp
